Schneider Electric™ has added a silver glass antimicrobial additive to the masterbatch of its Harmony™ pushbuttons. This antimicrobial additive, which has been registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, is incorporated into the raw material of the pushbuttons. In this way, it maintains its integrity and inhibits the growth of bacteria and microorganisms that cause odors, discoloration, staining, deterioration or corrosion on the surface of the push buttons.

The manufacturing industry is facing many hygienic and sanitary challenges on the work floor. For example, panels on the production floor need to be disinfected on a regular base which will cause a stoppage or slower production to accommodate the sanitizing routine. That’s why reducing bacterial and microbial growth on high touch surfaces in a factory has never been more important.
