Schneider Electric introduces the new Modicon M262, an IIot-ready controller for logic and motion applications. The Modicon M262 is a versatile and powerful controller when communication on the factory floor or in the cloud is required.
The Modicon M262 meets the needs of logic applications, while it can also be used as an all-in-one motion controller with built-in functions such as a SERCOS bus, encoder connection and touch probe inputs. This makes the M262 ideal for applications in segments such as material handling and packaging, food and beverage and hoisting. The M262 offers intuitive, scalable and reliable machine integration in an Industry 4.0 environment, from machine to device, from machine to human, from machine to machine, from machine to plant or directly to the cloud.
New IIoT-ready technologies, as integrated in the Modicon M262 controller, meet end-user demand for technical support for machines on the other side of the world. By providing a secure connection between machines and the cloud, the M262 opens the door for machine builders to functionality such as predictive maintenance and managing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE). In a secure way without engineers having to physically travel to the machine location. The M262 provides up to 5 individual one-to-one independent Ethernet networks and a secure connection for easy integration on the factory floor with open protocols, including OPC UA, SQL, or to the cloud with MQTT, JSON or HTTPs (API).
With 4 to 16 synchronized axes with a scalable cycle time of up to 1 millisecond and a processing speed of 3 nanoseconds, the Modicon M262 controller meets the high performance requirements of motion applications. Using a dual-core processor for application and communication, the Modicon M262 is the fastest controller in the Modicon portfolio. With only one communication cable all components, such as drives and I/O systems, can be connected to the Sercos communication bus. If components that communicate Ethernet IP are used, it is also possible to connect them to the same communication cable.
The M262 offers integrated encrypted communication, separation of office and machine networks, Achilles certification and other cyber security functionalities. In addition, the Modicon M262 complies with the latest machine safety regulations up to SIL3 in combination with SERCOS and a safety controller.
Modicon M262: the IIot-ready controller for logic and motion applications
Schneider Electric introduces the new Modicon M262, an IIot-ready controller for logic and motion applications. The Modicon M262 is a versatile and powerful controller when communication on the factory floor or in the cloud is required.
Logic and Motion controller in one
The Modicon M262 meets the needs of logic applications, while it can also be used as an all-in-one motion controller with built-in functions such as a SERCOS bus, encoder connection and touch probe inputs. This makes the M262 ideal for applications in segments such as material handling and packaging, food and beverage and hoisting. The M262 offers intuitive, scalable and reliable machine integration in an Industry 4.0 environment, from machine to device, from machine to human, from machine to machine, from machine to plant or directly to the cloud.
Direct connection to the cloud
Unrivalled efficiency
With 4 to 16 synchronized axes with a scalable cycle time of up to 1 millisecond and a processing speed of 3 nanoseconds, the Modicon M262 controller meets the high performance requirements of motion applications. Using a dual-core processor for application and communication, the Modicon M262 is the fastest controller in the Modicon portfolio. With only one communication cable all components, such as drives and I/O systems, can be connected to the Sercos communication bus. If components that communicate Ethernet IP are used, it is also possible to connect them to the same communication cable.
Cybersecure
The M262 offers integrated encrypted communication, separation of office and machine networks, Achilles certification and other cyber security functionalities. In addition, the Modicon M262 complies with the latest machine safety regulations up to SIL3 in combination with SERCOS and a safety controller.
