Intro

Day 1 of the Masterclass: The laws and regulations and the process behind the CE mark.
 

Target audience

  • Engineers, maintenance technicians, safety experts;

Foreknowledge

No specific prior knowledge required. Affinity with technology is a plus. You have gone through the 'circle of safety' guideline.
 

Goal

In this module we focus on the laws and regulations and the process behind the CE marking. The compelling sequence of machine safety is explained and tools are provided to bring machine safety into practice.
A number of legal aspects relating to the Machinery Directive are discussed, providing trainees guidance on how to increase awareness in the field of machine safety within their organization. This involves reviewing and discussing a number of roles ranging from machine builders, system integrators to end users.
Dutch and European legislation are addressed and the course explains how the participants must address the field of safety. The agreements between the construction of machines (Machinery Directive) and the management of machines (health and safety legislation) are discussed. All this focused as much as possible on the daily practice of the particpants. The experience and daily practice of our safety consultants guarantees clear and practical advice.
We handle the necessary information that must be recorded during the development of machines. Not only are essential health and safety requirements related to the design and construction of machines relevant, but also design choices and the order of risk reduction, and the use of standards. 
It is also explained what the participants must take into account when purchasing machinery. This not only focuses on the responsibilities of the manufacturer, but also on the issues that are of importance in the procurement processes of the purchasing party.
