M4M network analyzers offer numerous power management options

Accurately analyze grid quality and monitor energy in real time? ABB's M4M network analyzers make it possible. The analyzers support the digital transformation of buildings by collecting information for the energy distribution system. Linking to the ABB Ability™ Energy and Asset Management (EAM) allows for improved efficiency and easier resolution of grid quality issues.

Connected network analyzers

As productivity improvement and reduction of energy consumption become increasingly important, the M4M modules have been developed as fully connected network analyzers. To this end, M4M network analyzers have all communication protocols (Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, BACnet/IP, Profibus DP V0) and I/O options on board for full integration in commercial buildings and industrial objects.

End-user centric

In the development of the analyzers, the end-user has been an explicit focus. For example, the M4M features an intuitive interface for easy configuration and fast visualization. Users thus need up to 40 percent less time for installation and commissioning. Fully pluggable terminals and a mobile app also contribute to much faster commissioning.

Different versions

The M4M series is available in different versions to support a variety of applications. In addition to the M4M 20, M4M 30 - both equipped with touchscreen and complete set of communication protocol options - the versions with Rogowski coils reduce cabling time by up to 70 percent.

In addition, the series includes the M4M 2X specifically for OEM applications. This analyzer without display lends itself to quick and easy DIN rail mounting and supports real-time energy monitoring and analysis for improved energy and environmental performance. This version is also supported by a mobile app and desktop software that provide remote access to the M4M 2X. A useful feature is the ability to "cut and paste" the configuration of one M4M 2X to another. The most recent extension is the M4M MID. This lends itself specifically to environments, such as corporate headquarters, where energy consumption needs to be accounted for.

Benefits at a Glance

The main advantages of the M4M network analyzer at a glance:

  • Full connectivity with Bluetooth and 4 communication protocols (Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, BACnet/IP)
  • Voltage measurement up to 690 V
  • Compact installation depth
  • Pluggable, vertical connection terminals: quick wiring and easy replacement
  • Suitable for CT .../1A, .../5A or Rogowski coils for 70% time savings
