Ty-Rap® detectable cable ties from ABB, a logical choice
Laws and regulations are increasingly weighing on production and storage areas in the food and beverage industry. Detectable cable ties are especially recommended in these and other industries to prevent residual cable tie.
Ty-Rap® from ABB: high-performance cable ties
Ty-Rap® cable ties are synonymous with quality and innovation. Because although Ty-Raps have been around for about 63 years, new and improved versions of this cable tie are still being developed. Today, the Ty-Rap® portfolio includes cable ties designed for specific applications. Whether it's cable ties that are resistant to extreme temperatures, flames, continuous sunlight, UV radiation, aggressive chemicals or cable ties with high tension: ABB always has the right solution. In addition to cable ties, we also supply the tools that make the assembly or installation process easier and faster. A complete overview of products and solutions is given on ABB's dedicated Ty-Rap page.
Ty-Rap® detectable cable ties
One of the innovative Ty-Rap® versions is the detectable cable tie. It supports companies in the food industry by reducing contamination risks and preventing possible recalls or - worse - reputational damage. With the detectable Ty-Rap®, an HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) compliant system can be established that meets food safety regulations.
ABB's detectable Ty-Rap® cable tie is easily detected by metal, X-ray and visual detection systems and has a distinctive bright blue color that is particularly important when used in food processing applications.
Two material versions
Ty-Rap® detectable cable ties are available in two material versions: nylon detectable cable ties (NDT) and polypropylene detectable cable ties (PDT). Both variants comply with FDA regulations and can therefore be used in food processing, handling or packaging environments. The cable ties contain a unique composition that can be detected by X-ray equipment, metal detectors and visual inspection. The polypropylene version of the cable tie also floats making it easily visually detectable in beverage industry applications.
Successfully tested
Testing according to the European Plastics Regulation indicates that food and beverage producers can require the use of detectable cable ties throughout their facilities. Even with prolonged contact with all types of food (PDT ties) and prolonged contact with fatty foods (NDT ties), there is no risk of migration. Thereby, they are not only assured of the flexibility and durability of Ty-Rap® cable ties, but also of a material that will not contaminate their food process.

Eneco - Green light for green electricity and steamRead moreEneco Bio Golden Raand, located in the port area of Delfzijl, converts biomass into green electricity and green steam. Each year, the plant processes approximately 300,000 tons of waste wood from the Netherlands and neighboring countries. As part of Eneco’s climate ambitions, a project began in 2022 to replace the existing fluorescent lighting in and around the boiler room. The project was carried out under the supervision of itsme. “Two factors were important in this process: the cost, of course, but also the level of service.”
