HMS - Rijnland Water Board solves network problem using Anybus Diagnostics
The Rijnland Water Board, responsible for clean water in a vast area of 1,100 square kilometres, operates more than 30 sewage treatment plants. In one of these plants, a faulty PROFIBUS network caused an unexpected shutdown. This network is crucial for controlling valves and ensuring proper aeration, which is essential for the treatment process.
Quick solution thanks to Anybus Diagnostics
To resolve the crisis quickly, Rijnland Water Board enlisted the help of Procentec (now Anybus by HMS Networks), a specialist in industrial network communications. Procentec's experts arrived on site and diagnosed the problem using the ProfiTrace tool. This tool identified a corroded cable causing an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problem, which disrupted communication within the PROFIBUS network.
Prevention with ComBricks modules
To prevent future disruptions and ensure the long-term stability of the network, Rijnland Water Board installed ComBricks modules from Procentec. These modules continuously monitor the health of the network and identify any problems at an early stage. This allows immediate action to be taken to prevent failures and ensure the continuity of water treatment.
A stable PROFIBUS network
‘The PROFIBUS system is now much more stable and totally fault-free,’ says Paul Schipper, project automation assistant at Rijnland Water Board. ‘The expertise and products from Anybus Diagnostics have helped us get our system operational again and ensure the health of our water. We are very satisfied with the quick service and adequate solution.’
Anybus Diagnostics: Reliable network solutions for industry
In today's industrial environment, reliable network communication is essential for efficient and safe operation. Anybus Diagnostics, formerly known as Procentec, offers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions to monitor, troubleshoot and optimise industrial networks.

Eneco - Green light for green electricity and steamRead moreEneco Bio Golden Raand, located in the port area of Delfzijl, converts biomass into green electricity and green steam. Each year, the plant processes approximately 300,000 tons of waste wood from the Netherlands and neighboring countries. As part of Eneco’s climate ambitions, a project began in 2022 to replace the existing fluorescent lighting in and around the boiler room. The project was carried out under the supervision of itsme. “Two factors were important in this process: the cost, of course, but also the level of service.”
