RiLine busbar systems for individual switchgear and control systems

Rittal offers a comprehensive system package of components for individual customer solutions. Regardless of where in the world rail systems are deployed - extensive testing, type approval and high approval status make Rittal rail systems suitable for many different applications. Simple engineering, fast assembly and optimum protection against touch are self-evident criteria in all Rittal busbar system solutions. Here, the busbar supports and busbar systems in combination with the connection technology, device adapters and fuse components form compact units that meet your requirements.

Requirements

For busbar systems to be tailored to individual requirements, the Mini-PLS and RiLine systems can be used. This is possible because Rittal has carried out the following tests on the Rittal busbar systems as well as the corresponding Rittal RiLine surface-mounted components as part of a system type approval.

  • Proof of insulation properties
  • Proof of air and creep paths
  • Proof of short-circuit resistance

Depending on the capacity, busbar systems with 40 mm or 60 mm can be used. The distance between rail supports depends on the impact short-circuit current (Ip) and can be derived from the short-circuit resistance charts.

Specific data apply for each type of busbar system, such as for the rail system with 60 mm rail centre distance. This is suitable for several sizes of busbar copper viz. 15 x 5 - 30 x 10 mm. Further parameters of the tests carried out are given in these short-circuit resistance charts.

Both 3- and 4-pole busbar systems for AC or DC applications are available. The busbar supports and the connection and fuse components to be used comply with the relevant product standards.

The short-circuit resistance of RiLine has been extensively tested. Evaluation of the short-circuit resistance in accordance with criteria according to UL 508 takes place here using the effective value of the short-circuit current (Irms), which must be present for at least 3 periods (60 ms). As part of the test, the test system was set to the relevant effective value (Irms).

With RiLine Compact, we offer power distribution in the smallest space

The board with the integrated PCB tracks where all components are simply attached by plugging on without tools. Attaching the components simultaneously establishes a safe electrical connection to the all-round contact-protected board. The contact grid of the RiLine Compact system allows any positioning of the components. The adapters of the RiLine Compact system enable quick connection of cables and devices. Thanks to the screwless connection technology of the connection adapter, the conductors can be quickly connected, and the contact point itself is completely maintenance-free. With their pre-assembled connection wires, the device adapters meet the specific requirements of IEC 61439 and UL.
