You'd rather know in advance?

Siemens

Components of an automation system are normally used for a very long time during their life cycle.
It is therefore questionable whether the component is still available in the event of failure. It is therefore important to manage the life cycle proactively. Timely information about the availability of spare parts, for example, is one of the most important planning criteria here.

Siemens identifies  six phases in the product life cycle:
1.    Beginning of delivery
2.    Availability period and active support
3.    Announcement of product phase-out
4.    Product cancellation 1. Available only as spare part
5.    Product cancellation 2. The spare parts are no longer available
6.    End of the product life cycle

itsme FactoryScan

We would be pleased to carry out an itsme FactoryScan at your location to determine the status of each Siemens component. To do this, we use a unique Siemens tool that can be easily connected to the PLC. This tool scans the network and creates an overview of all the installed network components. This inventory is enriched by itsme with relevant data concerning current status, availability, future availability, replacement items etc. You decide how extensive you want to receive the report by choosing from the modules: Basic and Extended.

Click on the button for an example report

Module "Basic"

The Basic module shows the general product lifecycle status. The focus here is on analysing functional obsolescence.
The Basic report includes:
- Obsolete overview of Siemens and other products. The number of critical components. Furthermore a list of unknown and third party products
- Number of parts available for delivery as original part, successor part or other type
- Information on repair possibilities
- Measures and recommendations on usability and availability of spare parts

Module "Extended"

This module contains the Basic Module ánd provides information on Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
The Extended report includes
- Availability and risk analyses based on the MTBF
- Determination of the MTBF value already reached
- Detailed MTBF report per component that highlights components with an MTBF value greater than 80 per cent

We can carry out the "itsme-Factory-scan" together with you. Based on the resulting overview, we would like to discuss the current status of the existing components. We can then discuss a scenario for future availability planning.

The Internet of Things is the extension of the Internet to connected devices. Telemecanique Sensors offers a wireless solution to collect data from remote equipment and use this data, via the Internet, on a PC or mobile device. The XIOT Cloud connected switch from Telemecanique Sensors is based on LPWAN \(low power wide area network\) technology, operated by Sigfox. The Sigfox network covers 32 countries and is already very extensive in Europe. It is also being rapidly deployed in the US and Asia-Pacific. It uses antennas with a range of around 50 km. The map on the Sigfox website shows exactly which areas are covered by the Network.

Pilz PSENOpt II
The second generation of light curtains, PSENopt II, provide safe access to the production process and provide finger, hand and body protection, depending on the requirement. The first Type 3 safety light curtains are specifically designed for applications up to PL d of EN/IEC 61496-1. Type 4 light curtains are also available for applications up to PL e in accordance with EN/IEC 61496-1/-2. As the units are so robust, PSENopt II sensors provide protection against shock, collision and vibration and so are suitable for use in rugged industrial environments. The operator can evaluate the essential causes and system defects responsible for the machine stop by means of the LEDs. Downtimes are reduced as a result.

Stimac - Good technical support for ever-changing specifications
If the description for an automation project is clear from the start, it is easy for the industrial automation specialist to give it substance. In practice, however, specifications often change during the course of a project. This happened to Stimac/SNK when designing the control technology for a horticultural machine. For the problems that arose during the process, itsme quickly provided Stimac/SNK with a solution. “When a customer calls us, we respond immediately. So it’s nice to have a supplier like itsme who can also help immediately.”
