Siemens - New hardware with improved performance and new functionalities

Along with the release of TIA Portal V18, Siemens is introducing an extension to its hardware portfolio: the CPU1514SP-2PN. This new addition to the range builds on the existing controllers in the ET200SP series, including the CPU 1510SP(F) and CPU 1512SP(F), and offers significant improvements in speed, memory capacity and connectivity.

What characterizes the ET 200SP series remains: its compact and space-saving design. The CPU1514SP-2PN is designed to meet the growing needs of industrial automation. With a more powerful processor and an additional PROFINET IO interface, users can now implement network isolation. This opens the door to various applications, such as separating automation and IT connections. The CPU 1514SP-2PN is available in four variants; a standard variant, a failsafe variant, a technology variant and a combination thereof.

Another interesting development is the introduction of firmware version 3.0 for the S7-1500 CPUs. This firmware update brings an entirely new system architecture, including a dual-core processor. This allows tasks for communication and user programs to be processed simultaneously and more efficiently, reducing the user program's impact from other processes. In addition, communication performance has been significantly improved, especially for protocols such as OPC UA.

The new hardware in the SIMATIC S7-1500 CPUs offers not only better performance, but also significantly more programming and data memory - 100% and 50% more, respectively. In addition, the old and new hardware are spare-part compatible. This means that if you need to replace a CPU from an earlier generation, you can easily transfer the memory card from the old CPU to the new hardware, without any modifications to the STEP 7 project.

In short, these recent developments strengthen Siemens' position as a leader in industrial automation and provide users with powerful tools to work more efficiently and effectively in TIA Portal V18.
