SIMATIC Safety Integrated - Failsafe and standard automation with a single controller!
When it comes to protecting operators, safety is a top priority for your new production machines. Therefore, you should rely on the modern controllers and other hard and software of SIMATIC Safety Integrated. Find out why so many machine builders have been using these parts for more than a decade now.
One single controller, one single tool, one single network
With a controller from the SIMATIC Safety Integrated portfolio you create both a standard and a failsafe program inside a single automation solution. Both are seamlessly integrated within the same components.
Using SIMATIC STEP 7 Safety within TIA Portal you only have to master a single – intuitive – tool. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Less effort, fewer costs
Thanks to the use of PROFIsafe you spend less time on wiring and its planning, compared to the use of conventional safety relays.
You can simulate the complete PLC program, including the safety functions, in PLCSIM or PLCSIM Advanced. In that way you accelerate commissioning and reduce the costs and risks for a quick time to market.
More flexibility
SIMATIC Integrated Safety activates the safety functions of a SIMATICS drive through the PROFINET or PROFIsafe standards. This is useful, for example, when the drive is inside an automatic guided vehicle (AVG). For easier maintenance you can, for instance, use mobile HMIs with built-in palm buttons for a safe shutdown of the machine.
Less downtime
When you use SIMATIC Safety Integrated not every error code has to end in a complete shutdown. You can quickly identify and solve problems thanks to detailed and clear diagnostic messages of the standardised diagnostic functions. Moreover, there is no longer a need to completely stop the machine in case of maintenance.
With functions such as Safe Limited Speed, which ensures that an installation switches to a reduced and safe speed, you can carry out minor maintenance work while the machine remains in operation.
And should you want to apply predictive or remote maintenance, you can easily analyse the data of your installation. You gather all the system information through that single controller or directly through PROFINET. This immediately shows you the complete picture of the machine, including the safety features.
Want to get started immediately with SIMATIC Safety Integrated? Go for the starter kit
Even the SIMATIC S7-1200 series already offers the safety features of SIMATIC Safety Integrated. You save costs and gain efficiency immediately.
Curious? Then opt for a starter kit of the SIMATIC S7-1200 controller with SIMATIC Safety Integrated, the ideal starting point.

Eneco - Green light for green electricity and steamRead moreEneco Bio Golden Raand, located in the port area of Delfzijl, converts biomass into green electricity and green steam. Each year, the plant processes approximately 300,000 tons of waste wood from the Netherlands and neighboring countries. As part of Eneco’s climate ambitions, a project began in 2022 to replace the existing fluorescent lighting in and around the boiler room. The project was carried out under the supervision of itsme. “Two factors were important in this process: the cost, of course, but also the level of service.”
